Support for Adults, Teens, Children, Families,
& Caregivers Facing Cancer, Serious Illness, and Grief
I work with adults, teens, children, couples, and families who are navigating cancer or another serious illness, as well as caregivers, survivors, and those grieving a loss. I support anyone impacted emotionally, relationally, or practically by an illness or treatment.
No. I support clients at every stage: diagnosis, treatment, remission, recurrence, survivorship, end-of-life transitions, and grief after loss.
Any point along the illness journey is the right time to get support.
Counseling focuses on providing emotional support, helping you cope with and heal from the stress, fear, or grief you’re experiencing.
Coaching focuses on practical steps, tools, and strategies to help you navigate everyday challenges, make informed medical decisions, communicate effectively with family, and manage emotional overwhelm.
Most clients benefit from a blend of both – support for the heart and tools for daily life.
Your first session is a gentle, grounded conversation where we explore:
- What you’re going through
- What you’re worried about
- What’s been hardest
- What kind of support are you hoping for
We’ll begin building a plan together, at your pace. There’s no pressure, no judgment, and no need to have everything figured out.
Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions for clients throughout Illinois and nationwide for coaching services.
Online therapy is convenient, private, and ideal for individuals or families balancing appointments, caregiving, or fatigue.
I do not have a physical office, but if you’d like an in-person option, I can discuss this based on location and availability. Many oncology and caregiving clients prefer the flexibility of online sessions.
I’m approved with a limited number of insurance plans. However, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
Many clients receive partial to full reimbursement depending on their plan.
I also offer private pay and limited sliding scale availability. If finances are a concern, we will work together to find a solution.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long, although extended sessions can be arranged when needed, especially for families or situations involving emotional complexity.
This depends on your needs. Some clients prefer weekly support, while others meet every other week.
During moments of crisis or major transitions, we may meet more frequently to help you stay grounded.
Yes. Children and teens are deeply affected when illness enters the family. I provide:
- Age-appropriate support,
- Emotional expression tools,
- Guidance for navigating fear and confusion, and
- Coordination with parents to support family communication.
I also support parents wrestling with how to talk to their children about diagnosis, recurrence, treatment, or grief.
Caregivers often carry the emotional and practical load for everyone else.
In our sessions, you’ll receive emotional support for your own stress and grief, tools to prevent burnout, practical guidance on medical communication, space to process decisions and fears, and permission to care for yourself as well.
You don’t have to carry everything alone.
Yes. Illness impacts relationships in profound ways.
Couples counseling can help with communication, decision-making, navigating fear together, reconnecting after treatment, coping with recurrence, and reducing resentment or emotional distance.
Partners deserve support, too.
Grief after illness is layered and complex. Whether you’ve lost a spouse, parent, child, or friend, we work at your pace.
Together, we explore the emotional waves of grief, including anger, guilt, and “what if” thoughts.
We will address identity after loss, relearning daily life, and finding meaning and connection while honoring your loved one.
There is no timeline – just compassionate support.
I blend the following: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Supportive counseling, Family Systems therapy, Mindfulness and grounding, Meaning-centered and legacy work, Psychoeducation, Practical coaching, and problem-solving.
You’ll receive emotional support and actionable tools.
